Privacy Policy — ChangeRail
Last updated: 2026-08-23
ChangeRail is designed to run entirely on your machine.
What this plugin does NOT do
- No source code collection. Your code never leaves your machine because of this plugin.
- No telemetry. The plugin contains no usage tracking of any kind.
- No analytics. No events, metrics, or crash reports are sent anywhere.
- No user account. The plugin has no sign-up, login, or identity of its own.
- No external API. The plugin calls no LLM API and no vendor API — it does not talk to Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or anyone else.
- No network transmission by this plugin. The plugin makes no network connections at all.
What this plugin reads
- The IDE's VCS change list (which files are changed/untracked), to classify changes.
- The project's
.git/HEAD(and the ref file it points to) to display the baseline commit hash. - File paths and names only, for policy matching. File contents are never inspected.
What this plugin stores, and where
- Task state (task name, policy paths, baseline file list, notification dedup list) in the IDE's per-project cache file in the IDE system directory — outside the project tree, local machine state only.
- Sensitive-pattern settings in the IDE's global configuration directory (
changeRail.xml). - The plugin writes no files into your repository, and never commits, reverts, or modifies your working tree.
Marketplace licensing
If this plugin is installed as a paid plugin, license validation is performed by the JetBrains Marketplace licensing infrastructure built into the IDE, under JetBrains' own privacy policy. This plugin itself transmits nothing.
